Butterfly Latch

I saw this latch and I had to have it. It's intended for a jewelry box, but with some work it makes a really unique pendent.

I ground the points off 4 vintage screws left over from taking apart old clocks and fastened them in place with industrial-strength glue. I then dangled a gold-plated butterfly, two quartz beads, two smoky quartz beads, and two brass bead caps from the bottom. The whole thing is hung on brass chain, with a matching button clasp.

Some people would use man-made crystals for the dangles, but I honestly prefer natural stone. It might not be as flashy, but it looks far more genuine and elegant. I personally find most crystal work to be a little tacky, to be completely honest.
